New Delhi: The government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY), a central sector scheme aimed at boosting employment opportunities nationwide. With an allocation of nearly Rs 1 lakh crore, the programme will run from August 1, 2025, to July 31, 2027, targeting the creation of over 3.5 crore jobs in two years.
The scheme covers both employees and employers. Under Part A, first-time employees with gross wages of up to Rs 1 lakh are eligible for a one-time incentive equivalent to an average one month’s wage (Basic + DA), capped at Rs 15,000 and paid in two installments. Part B extends benefits to employers, offering slab-based incentives for hiring new workers – Rs 1,000 for employees earning Rs 10,000 per month, Rs 2,000 for those earning between Rs 10,000–20,000, and Rs 3,000 for employees with salaries up to Rs 30,000. These incentives will be available for two years, while employers in the manufacturing sector will receive support for up to four years.
To qualify, establishments with fewer than 50 employees must add at least two new workers, while those with 50 or more employees must hire a minimum of five on a sustained basis for at least six months. Employers are also required to file electronic challan-cum-returns (ECRs) and generate UANs for all workers through the UMANG app.
The launch of the PMVBRY portal is expected to streamline registrations and ensure transparent implementation of the scheme, providing both employers and employees with direct access to benefits.
