New Delhi: India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has launched a nationwide rollout of its Aadhaar-based Face Authentication facility to enhance secure and inclusive banking services, particularly for the elderly and differently-abled.
Developed under the framework of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the new feature enables customers to conduct transactions using facial recognition, eliminating the need for fingerprints or OTP-based verification.
IPPB MD and CEO R Viswesvaran stated: “With Aadhaar-based face authentication, we are ensuring that no customer is left behind due to limitations in biometric fingerprints or OTP verification. It’s not just a tech feature; it’s a step towards redefining financial inclusion at scale.”
The feature now allows seamless access to key services, such as account opening, fund transfer, utility bill payments and balance inquiries. It also enables safe, contactless transactions, especially useful during health emergencies, and supports individuals with worn fingerprints or other biometric limitations.
This rollout furthers IPPB’s goal of “Aapka Bank, Aapke Dwaar” by making banking accessible across the country’s vast postal network.
