Aizawl: Mizoram has launched the first-ever Health ATMs in the state at the Civil Hospital Lunglei and Primary Health Center (PHC) Lungsen.
Launched under the Lunglei District Administration’s “Healthy Lunglei Initiative”, this allows people to check their key health metrics without visiting a doctor.
The Health ATM initiative was formalised through a tripartite MoU signed between Manav Vikas Sanstha, Office of Deputy Commissioner Lunglei and ABCI infrastructures.
The ATMs are powered by IoT technology. It offers free diagnostic tests for 35 parameters, including blood pressure checks, blood sugar monitoring, BMI calculation, ECG, lipid profiling, vision and hearing assessments and mental health screenings for depression and anxiety.
The results are generated instantly and sent to users’ mobile phones. This creates a digital health record at no cost.
These digital health records will enable timely follow-up and reduce the urban-rural gap in healthcare access by saving time and costs for patients.
The ABCI and BRN have provided funding for the procurement and maintenance of the kiosks through their CSR programs.
MVS is handling installation, training and technical support. The DC’s office is responsible for administrative facilitation and long-term sustainability.
