Mumbai: Paras Defence & Space Technologies Ltd has signed a teaming agreement with Germany-based High Performance Space Structure Systems GmbH (HPS GmbH) to jointly develop deployable antenna reflector subsystems for space applications in India.
This partnership marks a key step toward building indigenous capability in high-performance satellite components, an area where India has so far depended on limited global suppliers. The agreement enables the co-development of critical components such as reflector and arm assemblies, Hold-Down Release Mechanisms (HDRMs), deployment electronics, and thermal hardware systems that enable satellites to deploy signal transmission infrastructure once in orbit.
Under the arrangement, Paras Defence will serve as the primary interface for Indian clients, while HPS GmbH will provide design, manufacturing, integration, and testing support from its German facilities. The deal also includes a roadmap for establishing local manufacturing in India through a potential joint venture.
The collaboration aligns with India’s efforts to promote self-reliance in strategic technologies. While Indian agencies have advanced satellite-building capabilities, deployable reflectors remain largely imported. This initiative positions Paras Defence to bridge that gap and participate more competitively in both commercial and government-led space missions.
The agreement grants Paras exclusive access to HPS technologies in India and enables joint participation in future contracts. It also leaves room for future expansion into other advanced space hardware development.
This marks a shift towards strategic localisation in India’s evolving private space sector.
