New Delhi: Union Minister for Communications, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, chaired the quarterly financial review meeting of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL) and ITI Limited, urging the three state-run enterprises to sustain their focus on innovation, service excellence and sustainability.
The review centred on Profit After Tax (PAT) performance, turnover trends and growth prospects, with all PSUs reporting encouraging results.
In the case of BSNL, after nearly 18 years, the telecom operator reported profits for two successive quarters, Rs 262 crore in Q3 and Rs 280 crore in Q4 of FY 2024-25.
This marks the sharp recovery from the Rs849 crore loss it posted in the same quarter last year. The revival has helped BSNL cut its annual losses by 58 per cent, reducing them to Rs 2,247 crore.
Scindia described the achievements as a sign of the centre’s commitment to revitalising PSUs and enabling them to spearhead India’s telecom revolution.
CIL also reported a significantly noticeable performance, with revenue rising 17 per cent in FY 2024-25 and profits more than doubling over the previous year.
ITI recorded revenue of Rs 4,323 crore, registering over two-fold growth compared to FY 2023-24 and achieved positive EBITDA for the year.
It should be noted that Scindia urged the PSUs to build on this momentum by strengthening digital infrastructure and service delivery, while aligning their strategies with the centre’s vision of a resilient, self-reliant telecom sector that ensures last-mile connectivity across the country.
