Kolkata: Kolkata Police will upgrade its cyber investigation labs to enhance the safety and security of women online and track women-centric crimes.
Kolkata Police has accordingly called for e-tenders worth Rs 5.8 crore for hi-tech digital forensic collection and storage equipment.
The funding will come under the Nirbhaya Project of the Union Home Ministry.
Kolkata Police also wants to upgrade its data centre to seamlessly coordinate with the National Forensic Data Centre that hosts data on sexual offenders.
Simultaneously, the Central Forensic Science Laboratory at Kolkata will also be modernised.
The digital tools in the tender include Axiom Cyber, which costs Rs 56 lakh. This tool remotely collects data from computers and the cloud and analyses it alongside mobile, IoT and third-party data for a complete picture of the case in hand.
The list also includes MSABXRY Pro, which helps extract and decide more data from mobile devices even when they are locked or encrypted. These will cost close to Rs 2 crore.
Other additions include sophisticated digital forensic tools like Digital Forensic Workstation FRED-S, forensic laptops and software like Magnet Axiom Cyber and Oxygen Forensics Detective. Third cost between Rs 14,51,400 to Rs 1,94,70,000.
Body-worn cameras, crucial for on-field documentation, are listed with 30 units valued at Rs 12,00,000.
Aerial imaging devices, essential for overhead surveillance, are also included with two units priced at Rs 8,24,000.
Video recording equipment is another major component. 25 video cameras are priced at Rs 42,24,759 and an additional seven units at Rs 41,99,930.
