Kolkata: Sovon Chatterjee has been appointed as the Chairman of the New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA), while Chandrima Bhattacharya has taken charge as the Chairperson of the Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO).
As a result, New Town is set to be helmed by New administrative leadership.
Chatterjee is a former minister and ex-mayor of Calcutta Municipal Corporation.
Bhattacharya, who currently holds multiple ministerial portfolios – including Minister of State for Finance, Environment, Health and Family Welfare, Land and Land Reforms, and Refugee Rehabilitation – will now also lead HIDCO.
The HIDCO chairperson post had remained vacant for a considerable period after Firhad Hakim.
However, NKDA was previously chaired by Alapan Bandyopadhyay, Chief Advisor to the Chief Minister.
