Kolkata: A total of eight universities in West Bengal have finally got permanent full-time Vice-Chancellors (VCs).
Due to an imbroglio between the state government and the Governor, these universities have been functioning with part-timers to date.
Now the Supreme Court has sanctioned the appointments of 8 VCs as per the roster agreed by all parties.
Ashutosh Ghosh has been appointed Calcutta University VC, Chiranjib Bhattacharya as the VC of Jadavpur University and Omprakash Mishra as the VC of North Bengal University.
In addition, Arnab Sen has become the VC of Raiganj University, while Ashish Bhattacharya and Uday Bandyopadhyay have been appointed VCs of Gaur Banga University and Kazi Nazrul University, respectively.
Finally, Chandradeepa Ghosh has been appointed as the VC of Sadhu Ramchand Murmu University and Abu Taleb as the VC of Biswa Bangla University.
While Mishra was the acting VC of North Bengal University, Chiranjib was the Registrar of Jadavpur University.
