New Delhi: IAS Avinash Lavania has been appointed Director in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare for a five-year term under the Central Staffing Scheme.
The Department of Personnel and Training issued the order stating that Lavania will take charge after he is relieved from his current duties in Madhya Pradesh.
Lavania is a 2009 batch IAS officer. Before this appointment, he served as the Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited in Jabalpur. He has held that post since January 2025. His work in the energy sector earned him recognition for improving efficiency and enhancing operational performance.
Throughout his career, Lavania has held several key positions in the Madhya Pradesh government. He earlier served as Collector of Bhopal and Collector of Hoshangabad. He also held various responsibilities in different state departments. In 2018, he worked as Commissioner of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation. His tenure there lasted six months. He began the role in May 2018 and was replaced after the change in government in December that year.
With this move to the Centre, Lavania steps into a new policy domain at the national level.
