Indore: The Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company (MPPKVVCL) has rolled out a large-scale campaign across the Malwa-Nimar region to help electricity consumers settle long-pending dues under the state government’s Samadhan Yojana. The initiative, which targets bills pending for over three months, offers a 50% to 100% waiver on surcharges for consumers who clear their outstanding amounts either in full or through installments.
Indore district is at the centre of the campaign, with about 100 camps being set up — 60 in urban zones and around 40 in rural areas. Similar camps are being organised in other districts, including 100 in Dewas, 60 in Ujjain, 50 in Dhar, 22 in Shajapur, and 11 in Agar. In total, over 400 camps have been planned across the region to expand consumer participation.
According to MPPKVVCL Managing Director Anoop Kumar Singh, nearly 1,000 consumers have already benefited from the scheme, availing around Rs 13 lakh in surcharge waivers. The discom has collected Rs 83 lakh in revenue from these settlements. Singh said that information about the scheme is being circulated through multiple communication channels to encourage more defaulters to come forward.
The company estimates that around 20 lakh consumers currently fall under the defaulter category and expects at least half of them to clear their dues through this initiative. Officials say the campaign aims not only to recover pending payments but also to strengthen billing discipline and improve the utility’s overall financial efficiency in the region.
