New Delhi: The Centre informed Parliament that 50.14 lakh central government employees and nearly 69 lakh pensioners stand to benefit from the implementation of the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC).
Minister of State shared the figures for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha dated 8 December.
Chaudhary was responding to questions on matters related to the 8th CPC, including its implementation date, the finalisation of the Terms of Reference (ToR) and whether funds would be allocated for it in the 2026-27 Union Budget.
Members also sought clarity on consultations with employee and pensioner associations, as well as the government’s stance on grievances raised by them.
The minister stated that the implementation date would be determined by the government and added that the commission is mandated to submit its recommendations within 18 months of being constituted.
He further assured that adequate financial provisions would be made to implement the accepted recommendations, noting that the government would establish the methodology and procedures required for the commission’s work.
