Kohima: The Government of Nagaland, on 2 December, marked a major step toward strengthening public welfare services with the ceremonial exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. (TKM) and the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN).
The collaboration aims to improve both healthcare and education infrastructure across the state, especially in underserved rural areas.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio emphasised that healthcare and education remain top priorities for Nagaland, where gaps in physical infrastructure and skill development still pose significant challenges.
He highlighted his recent visit to Toyota’s manufacturing unit and educational institution, noting that the company’s focus on experiential learning reflects how quality education can shape future-ready students.
The CM also acknowledged Toyota’s ongoing initiatives for underprivileged communities, calling the partnership a meaningful step toward long-term social impact.
Under the MoU, the health component will focus on upgrading essential medical facilities and widening access to services for communities in both rural and urban regions.
The education initiatives include digital learning tools, infrastructure improvement and enhanced skill development programmes for students. Rio assured full state support to ensure the smooth implementation of the planned interventions.
Representing Toyota Kirloskar, Sudeep Dalvi said the company’s initiatives are guided by its development approach centred on empowering children and communities.
IDAN Chairman Abu Metha noted that the collaboration demonstrates how platforms like the Hornbill Festival now foster new partnerships and opportunities for Nagaland. He added that the MoU progressed efficiently, reflecting a shared commitment to swift execution for public benefit.
