Kohima: The Department of Treasuries & Accounts of Nagaland has officially rolled out a new e-Pay Bill System, marking a major step toward improved transparency and efficiency in government financial operations.
Faster and More Reliable Bill Processing
Developed entirely within the department and hosted at the State Data Centre, the new platform replaces the previous e-Pay application. It promises faster bill preparation, smoother processing, and better integration with other treasury systems. Officials say the system will cut down manual work and reduce clerical errors, especially in salary bills, deductions, and GPF contributions. The upgrade is expected to benefit Drawing and Disbursing Officers across the state who handle financial documentation every day.
Integrated Tools for Seamless Workflows
A key feature of the system is its integration with TreasuryNet, eNPS, and the Grade IV e-GPF application. Budget details and deduction data can be directly imported, speeding up bill handling. The platform also generates challans automatically for deductions such as professional tax, GPF, and house tax. This improves consistency and reduces human error during financial transactions.
The user interface has been designed to make selecting employees and preparing bills quicker and easier. By sourcing deduction data directly from TreasuryNet, the system simplifies daily tasks and eases administrative burdens.
Official Launch Ceremony
The official launch event took place at the Directorate. Finance Commissioner Kesonyu Yhome praised the team behind the system and called it a proud moment for the state. He highlighted that developing the solution in-house brings greater ownership and confidence while also strengthening the foundation for future improvements in financial management.
The concept for the e-Pay Bill System originated from Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen, who proposed the idea during his tenure as Finance Commissioner. The development took around six months, followed by two months of testing and trial runs to ensure the system was ready for full-scale implementation.
Ready to Support Stakeholders
Additional Director Vechiso Chakhesang presented the system’s features during the launch and explained its expected benefits for users. The department believes this initiative will improve accuracy, boost efficiency, and enhance the reliability of bill preparation and payment processes throughout the state.
