Gandhinagar: Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals (GSFC) Ltd has announced that the Energy and Petrochemicals Department of the Government of Gujarat has nominated IAS Ashwani Kumar as a Director on the company’s Board.Â
He replaces IAS S J Haider (Retd.) on the Board.
Following the nomination, GSFC will initiate the required statutory procedures and compliances to formally induct Kumar as Director. His appointment will be subject to the approval of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and the Board of Directors.
Ashwani Kumar is a 1997-batch officer of the Gujarat cadre and brings more than 25 years of experience in public administration and governance. He is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, where he completed a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering. He later pursued a Master’s degree in Public Services, Policy and Management from King’s College London.
Over the course of his career, Kumar has held several key administrative positions in the Government of Gujarat. His work has spanned critical sectors such as urban development, urban housing, and infrastructure, where he played an important role in policy implementation and institutional strengthening.
Between 2016 and 2021, he served as Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, a role that placed him at the centre of the state’s administrative and policy-making processes. He has also handled additional responsibilities, including serving as Principal Secretary of the Ports and Transport Department, and has chaired urban development corporations.
Currently, Kumar is the Principal Secretary of the Energy and Petrochemicals Department. In this role, he oversees policy formulation and strategic initiatives in Gujarat’s energy and petrochemicals sectors, supporting the state’s broader industrial and economic development objectives.
