New Delhi: NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Uttar Pradesh to develop renewable energy and green hydrogen projects in the state.Â
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland.Â
Focus on Green Hydrogen and Renewables
The MoU focuses on providing renewable energy solutions to support green hydrogen production across Uttar Pradesh. The collaboration aims to accelerate the adoption of sustainable energy technologies, strengthen the green energy ecosystem, and promote decarbonisation in key industrial and energy sectors within the state.
Key Areas of Collaboration
Under the agreement, NGEL and the Uttar Pradesh government will work together on planning, implementation, and monitoring of the renewable energy infrastructure required for green hydrogen projects. The partnership also includes the deployment of innovative and scalable solutions aligned with the state’s clean energy and climate objectives.Â
The MoU was signed by IAS Vijay Kiran Anand, CEO of Invest UP and UPSIDA, and DMR Panda, Executive Director of NTPC Green Energy Limited. The signing ceremony was attended by Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of Finance and Parliamentary Affairs, Suresh Kumar Khanna, along with senior officials from the state government and NTPC Group.
The initiative aligns with India’s broader climate strategy and supports national targets for renewable energy expansion and net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.
