J&K Administration Appoints IAS Shantmanu as State Election Commissioner

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has appointed IAS Shantamanu (1991 batch) as the new state election commissioner of the union territory.

The appointment was approved by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Shantmanu succeeds B. R. Sharma, who completed his tenure after serving in the post since July 20, 2023.

Before this appointment, Shantmanu served as the Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Higher Education Department. He has also served as the Administrative Secretary, Information Technology Department (additional charge), and Secretary, Inter-State Council Secretariat under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Previously, Shantmanu also worked in other roles such as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution; Chief Vigilance Officer, National Textiles Corporation Ltd; Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Jammu and Kashmir; and Commissioner/Secretary, Forest Department.
