Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) is planning to expand an industrial corridor being developed along the Ganga Expressway in Sambhal district, with preparations underway to acquire an additional 200 to 300 hectares of land in the project’s second phase.
According to reports, the new land acquisition will cover areas in the villages of Kharsapa, Bhamauri Patti and Saundhan Mohammadpur. The expansion is part of the Government of Uttar Pradesh’s strategy to build a network of industrial zones along the Ganga Expressway to attract investment and create employment opportunities.
In the first phase of the project, around 240 hectares of land were acquired from villages including Khirni Muhiuddinpur, Basla, Amavati Kutubpur and Sarangpur. Officials said nearly 95 per cent of the development work in this phase has already been completed.
UPEIDA has now written to the district administration proposing the acquisition of additional land adjacent to the earlier site to expand the industrial corridor.
Meanwhile, the state government is also pushing ahead with industrial development in the Bundelkhand region. Over 56,662 acres of land across 33 villages have been proposed for acquisition for the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority (BIDA). Of this, 35,298 acres have been approved for acquisition in the first phase and 21,364 acres in the second phase, with more than 24,201 acres already acquired.
Around 300 acres will be developed under the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation as part of the Delhi-Nagpur Industrial Corridor, which will link Bundelkhand to a major industrial network.
The region is also expected to host defence infrastructure, including a battle tank maintenance, repair and overhaul facility and a combat vehicle manufacturing plant on nearly 250 acres. Proposals from companies such as Goodluck Astra and Redwood Hughes have shown strong interest in the Jhansi node of the Defence Industrial Corridor.
State industrial development minister Nand Gopal Gupta said the government plans to allocate large land parcels to investors during the upcoming Ground Breaking Ceremony as part of efforts to attract investment to relatively less developed regions such as Bundelkhand.
