Lucknow: The Government of Uttar Pradesh is planning to develop “plug-and-play” townships alongside industrial parks to provide improved infrastructure and facilities for investors and industries across the state.
Under the proposed plan, industries will be allotted built-up spaces designed according to their operational needs. These integrated townships will cover areas ranging from 10 acres to 100 acres and will enable companies to begin production soon after setting up their units.
Officials said the concept aims to create a complete industrial ecosystem by combining workplaces with residential and essential facilities for employees. By integrating townships with industrial parks, the state government aims to make industrial operations more efficient and sustainable.
The initiative comes at a time when large investments are flowing into Uttar Pradesh. Investments worth around Rs. 12 lakh crore have already begun to materialise on the ground, while projects valued at another Rs. 6 lakh crore are expected to be implemented in the coming period.
According to officials, investors are increasingly viewing Uttar Pradesh as a preferred destination for industrial expansion in North India. The state government has been actively promoting multiple sectors to accelerate industrial growth and strengthen manufacturing capabilities.
Authorities believe the expansion of industrial infrastructure will also open up significant employment opportunities, particularly for young people seeking jobs in emerging industrial hubs.
Private developers are expected to play a major role in building and operating these complexes. Under the plan, developers will be granted leases of up to 45 years to manage and run the facilities.
A formal agreement will be signed between the state’s Industrial Development Department and private developers outlining operational terms and service conditions, while the department will continue to provide oversight and guidance.
