Jaipur, 2 April, (APAC Media): In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Rajasthan government has appointed IAS Jitendra Kumar Soni as Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office.
He will also hold the additional charge of Secretary, Department of Information and Public Relations.
A 2010-batch officer of the Rajasthan cadre, Soni previously served as the Collector of Jaipur. Over the years, he has held several important positions, including Mission Director in the Medical, Health and Family Welfare Department and Ex-Officio Special Secretary in the same department.
Soni is known for his innovative approach and people-centric initiatives. During his tenure in Jhalawar as District Collector, he worked on establishing a blood bank for rare blood groups and improving accessibility in government buildings for persons with disabilities. Earlier, as a trainee officer in Pali district, he launched a “school on wheels” initiative aimed at educating children in remote areas.
He has also received national recognition for his work. Soni was honored by the Abdul Kalam Centre for Innovation and received an award from the President for his efforts in saving lives during floods in Jalore in 2016.
Apart from his administrative achievements, Soni has made a mark in literature as well. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar in 2016 by the Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi for his book “Bharkhama.”
The reshuffle involves the transfer of several IAS officers across the state as part of efforts to strengthen governance and administrative efficiency.
