The company has started rolling out Codex support inside the ChatGPT app on iPhone and Android, allowing users to track and manage coding work directly from their phones.
The update is designed for users running longer coding tasks on laptops, remote systems, or cloud environments. Instead of sitting in front of a computer, developers can now check progress, approve commands, review code changes, and send new instructions through the ChatGPT mobile app.
Why This Update Matters For Developers
The feature does not turn smartphones into coding machines. Instead, ChatGPT acts as a remote control for coding sessions already running through Codex on another device. Users can view terminal activity, screenshots, testing progress, and ongoing project updates in real time.
OpenAI said sensitive files, credentials, and permissions remain stored on the original system, while the mobile app only mirrors activity and allows approvals when needed.
