Noida, May 23 (APAC News): Gold and silver prices edged lower in the domestic bullion market on Saturday, tracking weak global cues and a firm US dollar, according to retail price updates across major Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata.
Benchmark gold rates for 24-carat, 22-carat, and 18-carat categories declined marginally compared to the previous trading session.
Silver prices also recorded a sharper correction during the day, reflecting heightened volatility in the precious metals segment.

Market participants attributed the decline to continued profit-booking by investors after recent gains, along with subdued international demand.
Analysts noted that easing geopolitical tensions and expectations of a stable interest rate environment in the United States have reduced safe-haven demand for gold in global markets, putting downward pressure on domestic prices.
In Delhi, bullion rates moved in line with the Indian Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA) benchmarks, which are influenced by international spot prices and currency fluctuations.
Similar trends were observed in Mumbai and Kolkata, where retail prices mirrored the nationwide movement with minimal regional variation due to uniform tax structures such as GST and standardised import duties.
Silver, which has both investment and industrial applications, witnessed comparatively higher volatility.
Traders said the metal is reacting not only to investment demand but also to global manufacturing data and industrial consumption trends, which remain uneven across key markets.
Industry experts stated that while the current trend indicates short-term softness, the broader outlook for gold remains supported by its traditional role as a hedge against inflation and financial uncertainty.
However, they cautioned that price movements are likely to remain range-bound and volatile in the near term due to shifting macroeconomic indicators and global policy signals.
Overall, the bullion market on May 23 reflected a corrective phase, with both gold and silver adjusting after recent fluctuations, as investors reassessed global economic cues and risk sentiment.
