New Delhi, June 2 (APAC Media): The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Ram Singh, a 2008-batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, as Secretary of the Sports Authority of India (SAI).Â
Prior to this appointment, Singh was serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), he will serve in the Sports Authority of India for an overall tenure of five years, up to May 24, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.Â
ACC Approves Deputation Changes
In a separate decision, the ACC has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs to extend the central deputation tenure of IAS Mahatme Sandeep Namdeo, who is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the ministry.
Namdeo is a 2010-batch IAS officer of the Tripura cadre.
His central deputation tenure has been extended by one year beyond May 9, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Over the course of his deputation, he has held several key positions within the Union Government.
In August 2021, Namdeo was appointed as Private Secretary to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw during his tenure as Minister for Communications. Later, in August 2024, he took charge as Private Secretary to Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Union Minister for Panchayati Raj and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
The latest extension will allow him to continue serving in the Ministry of Home Affairs beyond his original deputation tenure.
