New Delhi, July 21(APAC Media): Former India captain MS Dhoni has invested in residential rooftop solar startup SolarSquare through his family office, Midas Deals, as part of the company’s recently announced $53 million Series C funding round. Along with the investment, Dhoni will also become the company’s brand ambassador, marking his entry into India’s fast-growing residential solar energy sector.
SolarSquare, founded by Shreya Mishra and Nikhil Nahar, provides end-to-end rooftop solar services, including consultation, installation, financing, system monitoring and after-sales support. The company says it has installed rooftop solar systems in more than 50,000 homes across 29 Indian cities.
The startup said it will use the latest funding to expand into 30 to 40 additional cities, strengthen its technology platform, improve financing options for homeowners and enhance customer service. The investment comes as demand for residential rooftop solar continues to rise in India, supported by government initiatives promoting clean energy adoption.
Earlier this month, SolarSquare announced the $53 million Series C round, led by Lightspeed, with participation from Lowercarbon Capital, NGP Capital, Elevation Capital and existing investors. The latest investment highlights continued investor interest in climate technology startups as India’s rooftop solar market expands.
