Guwahati, August 24 (APAC Media): IAS Dr. Ravi Kota, a 1993-batch Assam-Meghalaya cadre, has been granted a second six-month extension in service, allowing him to continue as Chief Secretary of Assam until April 30, 2027.
The extension will be effective from November 1, 2026, immediately after the completion of his existing extension on October 31, 2026.
Dr. Kota had assumed charge as Chief Secretary of Assam on April 1, 2024, succeeding Paban Kumar Borthakur, who retired on March 31, 2024. His original date of superannuation was April 30, 2026, following which he was granted his first six-month extension from May 1 to October 31, 2026.
With the latest decision, Dr. Kota will continue to lead the state administration for another six months, providing continuity at the highest level of Assam’s bureaucracy as the state continues to implement its administrative and development priorities.
The extension also puts the succession to the post on hold for the time being, allowing the state administration to retain continuity under Dr. Kota’s leadership through April 2027.
