How MP Jal Nigam is ensuring supply of drinking water to the rural households of Madhya Pradesh?
Madhya Pradesh Jal Nigam is preparing water supply schemes based on surface sources. These source are perennial River like Narmada or Water Resources Department Dams. (At present about 97% rural water supply is based on ground water i.e. Tube well based Single Village Schemes are prevalent.)The surface source based schemeswill insure 365 day’s water supply and water will be of standard quality, with adequate pressure.
What about providing raw water to rural industries?
Provision for suppling water Raw/filleted to small/cottage industries is made in the schemes, for industrial areas as a whole, mapping is being done with industries department, this will also help in cross subsidising the project cost.
Shed some light on various technological innovations being leveraged by your department.
The scheme designsare robust, and any chances of breakdown is minimal .(The material being used in the schemes are of best quality, so that chances of contamination will be minimum and consumers will get good quality water with adequate pressure.) The schemes are provided with SCADA system, Jal Nigam is developing Dashboard for monitoring and complaint redressal. All the material being used in schemes is Third Party quality check at manufacturing site itself.
Future Plans:
Under Jal Jeevan Mission, we intend to cover whole state through Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC)’s by 2024 and accordingly Jal Nigam in coordination with PHE Department is planning the schemes. Though solar energy we will be able to reduce our O &M cost i.e. cost of water production/supplyand willtry to make schemes self-sustainable.
What is your opinion on the power of digital governance and future of it in India?
In future all the services will be provided through Digital platform only. Accordingly, we are preparing our organisation/services. Consumers will get all information about water being supplied to his village on a single click. In future the digital governance will be the key to success in all sectors.
