New Delhi: Almora District Administration reaches out to Israel, Denmark, Hungary and Netherlands for collaboration for later phases of Kosi river rejuvenation. ‘We are looking forward for knowledge sharing with global experts. We are also ready to sign MoUs with counties like Israel, Denmark, Netherlands & Hungary who have done phenomenal work in water sector,’ said Nitin Bhadauria, District Magistrate of Almora, Uttarakhand. He was speaking in the inaugural of virtual ‘Kosi River Rejuvenation Summit’ hosted by Almora District Administration in association with APAC Digital News Network.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat in a special video message congratulated the Almora district administration for organising the summit to highlight the succes of Kosi river rejuvenation.
Delivering the Keynote Address in the inaugural of the summit, U P Singh, Union Jal Shakti & Drinking Water and Sanitation Secretary emphasised on the need for the rejuvenation of smaller rivers. Dr Ron Malka, Ambassador of Israel in India announced in the event that the Embassy of Israel in India will be having a Water Attache soon. On the other hand, Freddy Svan, Ambassador of Denmark in India highlighted opportunities of India & Denmark in water sector. Peter Kovas of India- Hungary Joint Water Working Group stressed on increasing water management efficiency with irrigation.
Dr R S Rawal, Director of GB Panth National Institute of Himalayan Environment said that they are ready to extend knowledge and technical expertise for river rejuvenation. Professor J S Rawat of Kumaon University also hailed district administration for their efforts for Kosi rejuvenation.
Maya Acharaya of Netherlands Embassy expressed her desire to collaborate with the district administration for various water related projects.
G Asok Kumar, Additional Secretary and Mission Director, National Water Mission of Jal Shakti Ministry, Dan Alluf of Israel Embassy, Dr Deepshikha Sharma of Denmark Embassy and Indra Sen, Assistant Professor of IIT Kanpur also took part in panel discussion on sustainable livelihood.
Event also saw officers of Almora Administration presenting on various topic.
