New Delhi: MP Jal Nigam is focusing on technology & innovation for various ongoing projects, said Dr Tejaswi Naik, Managing Director of MP Jal Nigam. He was speaking in a panel discussion in virtual ‘Global Water Management Conclave’ organised by APAC News Network in association with the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.
Dr Naik stated that the mandate of the MP Jal Nigam, which was established in 2012, is to provide water to the rural areas and manage the sewage. At present, they are focussing on water supply to almost 7,000 villages.
‘We have come under the purview of Jal Jeevan Mission from 2019 onwards. All our projects are SCADA enabled to make it more efficient. Our current focus areas are cost management and conservation aspect. We will be going for solar parks to curtail electricity cost. We are tying up with the Energy Department of Government of Madhya Pradesh for this. With this, we will be able to decrease the carbon footprint that these projects incur,’ said Dr Naik.
He further added that the ‘greywater management is another concept we are working on. Sewage management can also boost irrigation system. The planning is underway. Last mile connectivity is very important for every project. MP has a lot of remote villages and tribal population. We need to engage with them and make them aware of our ongoing projects and activities. Through this, we are engaging with village boards, NGOs and self help groups of women. Currently, water supply is taking place through bore well, which we are planning to augment with surface water.’
‘We are also working closely with the Urban Development Department of MP to know about the latest technology usages and how we can deploy them in our ongoing projects,’ said MP Jal Nigam MD.
