New Delhi: Acer has announced its partnership with Dixon Technologies to manufacture laptops in India under ‘Make in India’ initiative. The manufacturing facility is situated in Noida and was inaugurated by Saurabh Gaur, Jt Secretary Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
Acer claims that it will use this facility to produce up to 500,000 laptops annually. The company will provide Dixon with the know-how and processes for manufacturing high-tech laptops. Acer believes that this initiative will boost electronic manufacturing ecosystem in the country and will also create employment opportunities. Acer currently manufactures some of the products in its Puducherry facility.

Dixon Technologies is an Indian company that basically acts as contract manufacturer that makes smartphones, TVs, washing machines, light bulbs and CCTV cameras. This will be the first time the company will be manufacturing laptops. Dixon Technologies already serves some big brands like Motorola, Philips, Syska, Samsung, Panasonic.

After Indian government announced production linked incentive scheme to boost manufacturing in India, several brands have come forward to start manufacturing in India.
