ISRO has announced an offline course for professionals, which will be offered through the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS). The course called “Remote sensing – an overview for decision makers” consists of lecture and demonstrations in the IIRS campus by senior and experienced faculty of the institute using hardware and software facilities. “The course provides opportunity to explore and analyse the spatial information for various applications related to natural resources management, infrastructure development and disaster management,” says IIRS on its website.
Who Can Take the ISRO Course on Remote Sensing?
The course has been designed for the following participants:
- Officers of All India Services having 5 years of experience.
- Senior official or functionaries working in government organisations. Senior official or functionaries working in academic or research institutes.
- Participants from the geospatial industry.
- Participants from NGOs.
- Entrepreneurs having 15 years of experience in service.
What the ISRO Course on Remote Sensing Will Cover?
The following aspects of remote sensing will be covered as part of the course:
- Current trends in remote sensing and geospatial technology.
- Remote sensing data, institutions and policies, open sources data and software.
- Operational remote sensing applications in natural resources management.
- Demonstration on close range photogrammetry, Bhuvan and open source software.
- Disaster monitoring and management (geological, hydrometerological and
- environmental).
- Multi-disciplinary applications of geospatial technology.
- Recent trends in geospatial applications.
- Case studies, and demonstration.
- Feedback and Interactive discussion.
Important Details of the ISRO Course on Remote Sensing
The course will be conducted from 11 to 14 July 2022, and the last date to register for the course is 4 June 2022. The course costs Rs 16,000 which includes accommodation. Eligible applicants will have to send the scanned copy of their application form, duly signed and forwarded by the controlling authority or institution form along with the course fee through e-mail at dms@iirs.gov.in.
