New Delhi: Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has declared plans to build a 41 MW captive solar power plant in Tamil Nadu. It will cater to the energy requirements of TP Solar’s upcoming 4.3 GW solar cell manufacturing unit. The project is set to be located in Tuticorin.
TPREL, a subsidiary of Tata Power Company Ltd, intends to establish the 41 MW captive solar plant to support TP Solar’s forthcoming 4.3 GW solar cell and module manufacturing facility in Tirunelveli. This initiative is estimated to generate 101 million units of electricity annually while reducing approximately 72,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
Upon completion, this new captive solar facility will increase Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd’s overall capacity to 7,877 MW, including 3,720 MW of projects at various stages of implementation.
The construction of the captive solar plant is expected to be concluded within 12 months from the signing of the Project Development Agreement (PDA). Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd has created TP Govardhan Creatives Ltd as a specialised entity responsible for the development, operation, and maintenance of the solar power plant.
