Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee recently announced that the seventh edition of the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) garnered investment proposals totalling Rs 3,76,288 crore.
The proposals were contained in 188 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and letters of intent (LoI). Mamata Banerjee declared the summit as one of the most successful organised by the Bengal government.
During the concluding session, the chief minister highlighted the theme of “small is beautiful,” emphasising her government’s commitment to addressing unemployment by promoting small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Notably, the focus on SMEs distinguished this edition of the summit.
Prominent figures from India Inc, including Mukesh Ambani, attended the event, showcasing the government’s efforts to attract major capital. Several small business owners to share their investment and expansion plans with the chief minister.
Mamata Banerjee reiterated her dedication to supporting the economically disadvantaged, particularly those employed in the construction sector. She asserted that the SME sector could play a crucial role in creating opportunities for such individuals.
