New Delhi: Safran, a French fighter jet engine manufacturer, is prepared to fully transfer technology for the production of fighter jets in India, according to statements from Indian Ambassador to France, Jawed Ashraf. Talks are underway between India and Safran, focusing primarily on the Shakti jet engine deal.
The discussions aim to align the engine’s specifications with India’s future fighter jet requirements, and Ambassador Ashraf emphasised India’s pursuit of a comprehensive approach to technology transfer. This extends beyond manufacturing technology, encompassing the design phase, metallurgical aspects, and other critical elements crucial for advanced jet engine development.
Safran has expressed its commitment to a 100% technology transfer, covering design development, certification, and production phases. The collaboration includes the joint development of a combat aircraft engine and industrial cooperation for the motorisation of heavy-lift helicopters under the Indian Multi Role Helicopter (IMRH) program with Safran Helicopter Engine.
The commitment was announced after talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.
