New Delhi: The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy has extended the deadline for the Research and Development (R&D) proposals under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. This decision was made after the release of guidelines to improve the cost-effectiveness of producing, storing, transporting, and using green hydrogen. The scheme, launched on 15th March, 2024, with a budget of Rs. 400 crores until 2025-26. It aims to boost the efficiency, safety, and reliability of green hydrogen technologies.
The initiative also seeks to encourage partnerships among industry, academia, and government to build an innovation ecosystem for green hydrogen technologies. It aims to support the growth and commercialisation of these technologies through essential policy and regulatory support.
The R&D program supports every aspect of the green hydrogen process, from production to utilisation, including storage, compression, and transportation. Projects will have clear goals, deadlines, and room for growth, encouraging participation from innovative MSMEs and startups working on local technology development.
After releasing guidelines on March 15th, the Ministry called for proposals on March 16th, 2024. Although the response has been positive, some stakeholders asked for more time to submit proposals. In response, the Ministry extended the deadline to April 27th, 2024, to ensure high-quality submissions.
The National Green Hydrogen Mission was launched on 4th January, 2023. It has an outlay of Rs. 19,744 crores until 2029-30.
