Aligarh: Naima Khatoon has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), thereby making history as the first female VC of the University since its inception 123 years ago. She was appointed by the Ministry of Education after President Droupadi Murmu, a Visitor of the University, gave her approval.
Khatoon previously served as the principal of AMU’s women’s college and currently holds the position of Director of the Center for Skill Development and Career Planning at AMU. Her academic contributions, particularly in political psychology.
A researcher and writer, Khatoon has a PhD in political Psychology. She has co-authored, authored and edited six books. Various national and international journals have published her papers. She was also honoured with the Papa Mian Padma Bhushan Best Girl Award due to her excellence.
