Kolkata: Balmer Lawrie has appointed Adhip Nath Palchaudhuri as its chairman and managing director (CMD). He will succeed Adika Ratna Sekhar, who retired on June 30. The firm is a diversified public-sector undertaking.
Palchaudhuri, who has been a full-time director on Balmer Lawrie’s board since March 1, 2020, will take over as CMD (added responsibility) on July 1, 2024. He is currently the company’s director of services. Palchaudhuri is a seasoned executive with more than 30 years of corporate experience, joined Balmer Lawrie in 2012. He is in charge of the company’s travel and holiday division as well as logistics (infrastructure, services, and cold chain). In addition, he leads the Balmer Lawrie start-up fund program and is a member of the Vishakhapatnam Port Authority board.
The public sector corporation also declared the opening of a rail link between the port of Haldia and its container freight facility (CFS) in Calcutta.
