New Delhi: In a significant move to foster enterprise development and support small businesses, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced enhancements to the Credit Guarantee Scheme during her Budget 2024 speech.
The Credit Guarantee Scheme, which provides collateral-free loans to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), will see its corpus increased by ₹9,000 crore. This augmentation aims to facilitate easier access to credit for MSMEs, enabling them to expand operations, invest in new technologies, and contribute more effectively to the economy.
The enhancement of the Credit Guarantee Scheme is poised to significantly benefit MSMEs, which are crucial for job creation and economic diversification. By improving access to credit, the government aims to address the liquidity challenges faced by these enterprises, particularly in the wake of the economic disruptions caused by the pandemic.
