New Delhi: The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID) and the Hans Foundation have launched the Mobile Therapy Bus initiative. The initiative aims to provide healthcare and counselling services to children with disabilities in marginalized communities. The NIEPID is an autonomous organization under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD).
These new buses will be operational in Noida, Ghaziabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai, and are expected to reach more than 10,000 children with disabilities. Since the start of the initiative, the Mobile Therapy Bus initiative has already registered and screened more than 5000 children with disabilities.
Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary DEPwD was one of the chief guests at the launch event. He highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships for efficient government outreach to underserved communities.
