New Delhi: The Ministry of Education has released several important publications by the Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) during the 4th-anniversary celebration of the New Education Policy. IKS is a division under the Ministry of Education. It has been established to promote an understanding of traditional knowledge among students, educators, and researchers. The initiative was launched in collaboration with the University Grants Commission (UGC). It has since offered rich insights into the fields of Arts and Literature, Agriculture, Basic Sciences, Economics, Engineering, Architecture, etc.
Prof. Mohan Raghavan from IIT Hyderabad released a report on the state of the Indian Knowledge Systems and Heritage (IK & H) Industry. The report highlighted the sector’s potential to grow into a trillion-dollar industry within a decade.
Other significant initiatives launched at the event by the Ministry include:
- 1) Dedicated TV channels to promote learning of Indian languages
- 2) 10 Bagless day guidelines for schools
- 3) Career Counseling Guidelines
- 4) National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST) in Braille & Audio Books
