Gurugram: AlgoBharat, the India arm of Algorand Foundation, has launched the second edition of its “Road to Impact” initiative, aiming to advance Web3 development in India. Led by Dr. Nikhil Varma, Tech Lead for Algorand India, the initiative has already visited eight cities, connecting Web3 developers and startups for a four-month program of workshops and mentorship. The initiative will culminate in the Algorand India Summit in December.
India is rapidly becoming a key player in Web3 innovation, with the number of blockchain developers growing from 3% in 2018 to 12% by 2022. Unlike typical hackathons, AlgoBharat’s approach provides sustained support, open-source training, and real-world applications, helping participants build scalable blockchain solutions.
The initiative aligns with India’s 2047 digital empowerment vision, aiming to foster economic growth, address social challenges, and promote global tech leadership. Dr. Varma praised India’s developer community, highlighting innovations in sectors like supply chains, sustainability, and MSME financing.
The summit in Hyderabad will showcase the winners of the Startup Competition and Developer Track, with prizes including financial rewards and ALGO credits to support Mainnet deployment. This initiative positions India as a leader in the global Web3 landscape.
