New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education has launched its first overseas Regional Office (RO) and Centre for Excellence (CoE) in Dubai to foster Indian education in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The government announced its decision to open the CBSE RO and CoE in Dubai earlier in February 2024. The execution officially started in July 2024 at the Consulate General of India, Dubai.
An orientation was organized in Dubai in order to discuss the goals of the new office, its scope, and its expected impact on the region. Dr. Ram Shankar, Director of CBSE RO and CoE for Dubai in his presentation discussed the overview of CBSE’s mission in the region. He highlighted that the focus will be on promoting learning outcome-based education and fostering new dimensions in teaching.
The subjects offered will be tailored to meet the varying student capabilities for making education student-friendly. In addition, the board will promote a holistic approach through art-integrated learning and health education courses, along with the introduction of skill subjects in line with global education trends. A series of assessment reforms such as conducting case-based and competency-focused tests will also be undertaken to strengthen pedagogical plans. The CoE will focus on teacher training and equipping educators with relevant skills.
Satish Kumar Sivan, the Consul General of India and Dubai emphasized the significance of this move by CBSE. He stated that CBSE’s academic and resource support will benefit thousands of students, parents, and teachers in the region.
