Bengaluru: GalaxyEye, a Bengaluru-based space tech startup, has partnered with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to launch a multi-sensor Earth Observation (EO) satellite named ‘Drishti’. The satellite is scheduled to be launched by next year.
Speaking about the details of the satellite, GalaxyEye’s co-founder, Pranit Mehta explained that Drishti will be the first of five satellites that the company plans to launch. It will be a 150 kg high-resolution indigenously developed satellite, which will be transported to the US once it is ready to launch.
With the launch of Drishti, GalaxyEye aims to position itself as the major provider of data across all various altitudes. Earlier in September, Infosys acquired a minor stake in GalaxyEye. This helps the startup in leveraging the IT company’s vast expertise and global market reach. According to Mehta, the collaboration with Infosys will enable GalaxyEye to develop downstream applications that can support various industries, thereby effectively utilizing the satellite’s capabilities.
