Kolkata: The Reserve Bank of India has appointed Partha Pratim Sengupta as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bandhan Bank for three years. He will replace the founder MD and CEO, Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, who recently stepped down from the post.
Sengupta has experience spanning nearly four decades in the banking sector. He has held leadership positions at the State Bank of India (SBI) as well as the Indian Overseas Bank (IOB). Prior to this new appointment, he served as the MD and CEO of IOB.
Before joining IOB, Sengupta held a variety of leadership roles in retail and corporate banking at SBI. As Deputy Managing Director and Chief Credit Officer, he led the Corporate Centre Credit Committee and played an instrumental role in making investment and risk management decisions. He was also in charge of regional operations, including his role as Chief General Manager of the Kolkata Circle, which includes West Bengal, Sikkim, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
