Mumbai: Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has launched its ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ program in Tamil Nadu, aiming to help more households switch to solar energy. This comes after successful rollouts in states like Rajasthan and Kerala.
At an event in Coimbatore, Tata Power CEO Praveer Sinha highlighted how the initiative will make solar energy more affordable for homes across Tamil Nadu. The company is working with 42 local partners to ensure smooth installations statewide.
Tamil Nadu is already a key area for Tata Power’s solar projects, with the company having installed over 240 MW of solar capacity. The region also hosts Tata Power’s 4.3 GW solar manufacturing plant, which supports India’s renewable energy push by reducing reliance on imported solar equipment.
As part of the initiative, homeowners can get subsidies for rooftop solar systems—up to Rs 78,000 depending on the size. They can also take advantage of net metering to earn credits for excess electricity they generate, helping lower their energy bills further.
This expansion is part of Tata Power’s broader plan to boost clean energy use across the country.
