Mohali: Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated the BRIC-National Agri-Food Bio-Manufacturing Institute (BRIC-NABI) in Mohali, focusing on biotechnology-driven growth in agriculture. The initiative aims to promote sustainable production, enhance R&D efficiency, and create eco-friendly solutions like biofertilizers and disease-resistant crops.
During the launch, the BioNest Incubation Centre was introduced to foster public-private partnerships, empowering startups and encouraging local talent in agriculture and bioprocessing. Dr. Singh also highlighted India’s rapid transition from traditional manufacturing to synthetic production, crediting scientific progress for the country’s economic rise.
A biomanufacturing workshop, scheduled for December 2024, will explore advancements across agriculture, energy, and pharmaceuticals. The minister urged youth to pursue research and entrepreneurship within India, emphasizing the country’s growing innovation ecosystem.
