Amaravati: The government of Andhra Pradesh (AP) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras have teamed up to drive innovation and strengthen digital skills in the state. For this purpose, the two have signed 8 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) focusing on deep tech, innovation, digital education, maritime research, and governance systems.
In particular, the agreements will serve the following objectives:

Deep-tech incubation park in Amaravati: The facility will be established in collaboration with IIT Madras and will enable partnerships between Andhra Pradesh and international universities.

Digital skilling programs: Through its platforms like SWAYAM Plus and Vidhya Shakti, IIT Madras will introduce digital skilling programs across the state in order to upskill students and teachers.

Bolstering Aviation industry: Kuppam and Puttaparthi are being developed as logistics and maintenance hubs under this initiative.

Developing Visakhapatnam into a global internet gateway: By leveraging IIT Madras’ expertise, Vizag is expected to transform into a critical hub for data connectivity.

Smart Tech-enabled Sports City Project: Integration of advanced technology in Amaravati’s Sports City Project to position the city as a sports innovation center.

Development of advanced governance systems: IIT Madras will support the AP government in integrating AI and data science techniques into its systems for administrative efficiency.

Enhancing Maritime Research and Coastal Energy Harvesting Technologies: The partnership will provide support to maritime and coastal projects, offering economic opportunities in the region.
