New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to facilitate ticket booking for select monuments and tourist destinations through the Delhi Metro’s “Momentum 2.0” and “Delhi Sarthi” apps. This initiative aims to enhance accessibility and convenience for tourists in Delhi by integrating metro travel with heritage exploration. The agreement was signed at DMRC’s corporate headquarters.
The platform will initially support ticket bookings for iconic ASI-protected monuments in Delhi, including the Qutub Minar, Red Fort, and Humayun’s Tomb. Over time, the service may expand to include more destinations under ASI’s jurisdiction.
Dr. Vikas Kumar, Managing Director of DMRC, emphasized the collaboration’s potential to simplify travel and promote tourism by merging public transport services with cultural experiences. Officials noted that the feature would allow commuters to plan their trips seamlessly, from metro rides to monument visits, all through a single app interface.
The “Momentum 2.0” and “Delhi Sarthi” apps, introduced as part of DMRC’s efforts to digitize services, already provide features like metro trip planning and smart card recharge. Adding monument ticketing aligns with DMRC’s vision to integrate digital services with tourism and public convenience.
This collaboration also reflects ASI’s focus on leveraging technology to promote heritage conservation and ease public access to cultural sites. The initiative is expected to boost tourism in Delhi, streamline monument entry processes, and encourage greater use of the metro system for city exploration.
By merging heritage and transit services, this partnership is an example of innovative public sector collaborations that cater to urban commuters and tourists alike.
