Bengaluru: In a significant step towards bridging the gap between academia and industry, Volvo Group India Pvt. Ltd. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Amrita University and Thapar Institute. The initiative targets engineering students in mechanical, electrical, electronics, and computer science streams, offering them a specialized credit course designed to prepare them as industry-ready automotive engineers.
By equipping students with practical skills and industry insights, the collaboration aims to bridge the divide between theoretical knowledge and its application, enabling graduates to excel in the evolving automotive sector. The initiative introduces a two- to four-semester-long credit program focusing on industry-relevant subjects. Volvo Group will actively support this effort by training faculty, providing guest lectures, co-teaching courses, and offering real-world industrial problem statements for projects. Additional initiatives include the establishment of a Tech Demo Centre, joint research publications, and opportunities for Volvo employees to pursue higher education and academic contributions.
To encourage diversity in the automotive industry, Volvo Group will provide scholarships for female students participating in the program. Students will also gain hands-on experience with tools and technologies used by Volvo Group, preparing them to contribute to real-world projects from the start of their careers. This partnership will also streamline recruitment, giving Volvo access to top talent through internships and pre-placement offers.
The MoU signing ceremony, attended by Kamal Bali, Managing Director of Volvo Group India, and university representatives, symbolized a strong commitment to academic excellence and industry collaboration. The partnership highlights Volvo’s dedication to fostering an ecosystem where education and industry converge to drive sustainable advancements.
