New Delhi: NASSCOM, in collaboration with law firm Anand & Anand, has introduced the “Developer’s Playbook for Responsible AI” at the inaugural Confluence for Responsible Intelligence (RICON) event in New Delhi. This framework aims to help developers in India identify and mitigate risks associated with AI development, deployment, and usage.
The playbook provides a structured approach for developers to align their work with global AI ethics standards while addressing challenges specific to India’s tech landscape. It offers actionable strategies to promote transparency, fairness, and inclusivity in AI systems while tackling issues such as algorithmic bias and data integrity.
Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and CEO of IndiaAI Mission, highlighted that the guide serves as a resource for developers to identify risks and adopt responsible AI practices. “The playbook allows for evolving approaches to ensure ethical AI development in India,” Singh noted.
Sangeeta Gupta, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at NASSCOM, emphasized that this initiative could provide a unified framework for AI risk mitigation, benefitting developers and the broader tech ecosystem in India.
The guide is part of NASSCOM’s Responsible AI Hub initiative, which seeks to establish India as a leader in creating ethical AI practices. It outlines tools and techniques for developers to address potential risks in AI systems while fostering global trust in Indian AI solutions.
The playbook also aligns with India’s larger goals of attracting global partnerships and investments in AI by demonstrating a commitment to ethical and responsible technology development.
This move is seen as a significant step toward ensuring that AI innovations from India are both cutting-edge and ethically sound, helping the country gain a competitive edge in the global AI landscape.
