New Delhi: LinkedIn has launched an AI-driven tool aimed at helping job seekers and recruiters navigate challenges in the competitive job market.
The new feature, called “Job Match,” evaluates how a user’s skills and experience align with available roles. With a single click, users can view a detailed breakdown of qualifications they meet and areas where they fall short. LinkedIn says this tool aims to guide users toward opportunities where they are most likely to succeed.
For premium subscribers, additional functionalities include a match rating—categorized as high, medium, or low and tools to improve resumes and cover letters using AI. Premium users can also see their likelihood of being a “Top Applicant” for a role.
Challenges in Job Searching and Hiring
LinkedIn’s recent report underscores growing challenges in job hunting and talent acquisition. In India, 82% of professionals plan to seek new jobs in 2025, yet over half (55%) find job searches increasingly difficult. Nearly 49% of job seekers are applying for more roles but report receiving fewer responses.
Recruiters are also feeling the strain, with 69% of Indian HR professionals struggling to find qualified candidates. Additionally, 27% of recruiters spend 3-5 hours daily reviewing applications, with over half stating that fewer than 50% of applications meet role requirements.
Global Rollout in English
According to Rohan Rajiv, Product Lead at LinkedIn Talent Solutions, the “Job Match” feature will be available globally in English over the coming weeks, with plans to support additional languages.
As job market complexities rise, experts like Nirajita Banerjee, LinkedIn India’s Career Expert, emphasize the importance of developing relevant skills, maintaining an updated LinkedIn profile, and targeting roles aligned with one’s expertise. The new AI tool seeks to address these issues by simplifying job searches and enhancing recruitment efficiency.
