Guntur: VIT-AP University has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) to advance research in emerging technologies and cybersecurity. The agreements aim to strengthen collaboration in academic and research initiatives between the two institutions.
Key Focus Areas of Collaboration
The first MoU establishes a broad framework for joint research programs in deep technologies and sustainable development. It seeks to encourage interdisciplinary collaboration between faculty and researchers from both institutions.
The second MoU designates VIT-AP as a “spoke institute” under the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) project. The ISEA project is led by IIT Madras in partnership with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). This initiative, spearheaded by Prof. Chester Rebeiro, focuses on building capacity in cybersecurity and information security.
Leadership Remarks
Speaking at the signing event, VIT-AP Vice-Chancellor Dr. S.V. Kota Reddy emphasized that the collaboration would provide students and researchers with the opportunity to work on real-world challenges in frontier technologies. IIT Madras representatives, including Prof. Raghunathan Rengaswamy, Dean of Global Engagement, and Dr. Manu Santhanam, Dean (ICSR), highlighted the significance of fostering partnerships that align with national priorities in technology and education.

This collaboration is expected to address critical issues in deep technologies and information security while equipping students and researchers with advanced skills. The MoUs focus on fostering innovation, promoting knowledge exchange, and enhancing research output in areas that are strategically significant for India’s technological and sustainable development goals.
The signing ceremony took place at the VIT-AP campus in Inavolu, Guntur district, with participation from academicians and professionals from both institutions.
